JAPAN

I attended a photography exchange evening last night that displayed a series of images from Japan, in exchange a series of images from the UK were sent to them to view.
This got me thinking about my trip to Japan and how it is such a vibrant and exciting place, I would love to return. I thought I would share a few of my favourite images from the trip.

BIG MOOR

Searching for rutting stags this morning out on Big Moor in the Peak District National Park. Found a large male with several females surrounding him, but no contenders to take him on. Plenty of calling across the moors but no locked antlers this time!

THE BELT MAKER

I have spent the morning photographing the craftsman George Giovanni Walker who specialises in leather work, and was crafting a series of custom belts. It was great to watch such a skilled and focused individual who is clearly passionate about his craft and I am very happy with the results from the shoot!

ARRAN, ISLAY, JURA

A stunning two weeks exploring the landscapes of Arran, Islay and Jura. There is no denying that the West Coast of Scotland holds a special place in my heart and I love the landscapes and wildlife, but I was a little concerned that the three islands of Arran, Islay and Jura might disappoint as they are based much further south on the west coast making me believe they would be a lot less wild than further North. Whilst you may see a few more people in certain parts, the scenery and wildlife was just as stunning and losing the people altogether is easily achieved. I will definitely be going back.

COBB ENGLAND

Just completed some bold and vibrant shots of some perfectly hand made leather goods for a company called Cobb England based in Chesterfield. Really high quality leathers and craftsmanship carefully photographed. Really happy with the results and so were they!

STILL DODGING SHOWERS

Today I have been working on the River Severn and a small lake near Tewkesbury creating photography and videography for a client. A nice spot but the weather doesn't feel much like August!

WORKING IN GLASS

For the past few months I have been working with glass. Its a really interesting material to work with and with so many varieties of glass to choose from it takes a while to understand how the different colours, types and textures of glass will react once backlit.

So far I have designed and created a large landscape glass panel that sits above my front door and a more traditional style panel of a bird on a branch which I have designed and created for my Mom.

I have been working with Martin McAssey in Sheffield and his teaching technique, relaxed atmosphere and workshop facilities are really very good. Only problem is, it's very addictive and there are only so many places in the house to put the finished pieces!

SHEFFIELD GRAND PRIX 2017

A few shots from this evenings Sheffield Grand Prix. The streets of Sheffield are closed and a circuit is created for the cyclists to race. With the circuit being so short it is a great spectator sport with the riders passing by roughly every 90 seconds. The previous evenings were blessed with beautiful light but sadly this evening was pretty grey and dull. Still a good opportunity for some challenging shots.

RIAT 2017

Today I felt like 10 years old again, visiting airshows was a yearly treat with my Dad when I was young and I still love them to this day, they really trigger memories of being young and care free.

It has been 4 years since I last attended an airshow with my Dad, and today we were at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in the Cotswolds. The raw power and noise of the fast jets is always an experience and the skills of the pilots is top class.

The one downside is the crowds and I took a gamble and booked for Friday tickets and it was ideal! We took my Dads camper van and stayed at a near by campsite on the Thursday night and left early for the airshow on Friday morning. No queue, no traffic and with the weather being excellent it made the day perfect.
