Just completed some bold and vibrant shots of some perfectly hand made leather goods for a company called Cobb England based in Chesterfield. Really high quality leathers and craftsmanship carefully photographed. Really happy with the results and so were they!

STILL DODGING SHOWERS
Today I have been working on the River Severn and a small lake near Tewkesbury creating photography and videography for a client. A nice spot but the weather doesn't feel much like August!

WORKING IN GLASS
For the past few months I have been working with glass. Its a really interesting material to work with and with so many varieties of glass to choose from it takes a while to understand how the different colours, types and textures of glass will react once backlit.
So far I have designed and created a large landscape glass panel that sits above my front door and a more traditional style panel of a bird on a branch which I have designed and created for my Mom.
I have been working with Martin McAssey in Sheffield and his teaching technique, relaxed atmosphere and workshop facilities are really very good. Only problem is, it's very addictive and there are only so many places in the house to put the finished pieces!

SHEFFIELD GRAND PRIX 2017
A few shots from this evenings Sheffield Grand Prix. The streets of Sheffield are closed and a circuit is created for the cyclists to race. With the circuit being so short it is a great spectator sport with the riders passing by roughly every 90 seconds. The previous evenings were blessed with beautiful light but sadly this evening was pretty grey and dull. Still a good opportunity for some challenging shots.

RIAT 2017
Today I felt like 10 years old again, visiting airshows was a yearly treat with my Dad when I was young and I still love them to this day, they really trigger memories of being young and care free.
It has been 4 years since I last attended an airshow with my Dad, and today we were at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford in the Cotswolds. The raw power and noise of the fast jets is always an experience and the skills of the pilots is top class.
The one downside is the crowds and I took a gamble and booked for Friday tickets and it was ideal! We took my Dads camper van and stayed at a near by campsite on the Thursday night and left early for the airshow on Friday morning. No queue, no traffic and with the weather being excellent it made the day perfect.

BLUEBELLS BY THE HOUSE
With not living in our house all that long, it was a great discovery to find that the woodland that sits in front of the property is full of bluebells. The woodland is situated on a steep bank and as you climb the steep and narrow paths throughout the woods the masses of bluebells continue as far as the eye can see. Another fantastic aspect is that because the bank is so steep, once you reach the top and look out, you are looking out over the canopy of trees that are growing at the bottom of the hill giving you a tree top perspective.
BUSINESS CARD DESIGN
I have recently created this new business card design, based on the local crooked spire famous in Chesterfield. Along with the colours, design and layout I think it is a really strong design.

ARMY OF TULIPS
Each year I am trying to liven up the side path down the house with a variety of flowers. Again this spring I have planted an army of tulips and they do look very good and add a mass of colour. I will follow on with a planting of wild flower style seeds once the tulips have gone to continue the colours throughout the summer months. Lets see how they go.

LEA GARDENS
Lea Gardens is situated close to Matlock, down the road from our village and is a garden that specialises in rhododendrons and azaleas. It really needs to be visited at just the right time to experience the sheer mass of colour that it delivers. We were a couple of weeks too early for the maximum impact but still not at all disappointed by the mass of colours. Also the coffee shop does a really good coffee and great cakes with views of the garden.

DADS 70TH
For my Dads 70th Birthday, we have enjoyed a few winter days in the English Lake District. Along with my wife, Mom and Dad we have been based in a cottage nestled amongst the hills, with the log burner roaring on an evening. Getting up early ensures that you miss the crowds and see the best light of the day. Its hard to beat the beauty of the Lake District.

RETURN TO THE YURT
This weekend, Anne and I along with family returned to the spot in Leicester where Anne and I got married.
Onsite is a great yurt and shepherds hut (this is where we stayed on our wedding night :) we decided it would be great to return to this spot and thought it would be good to do it in the winter, so we could enjoy a big open fire to cook our burgers, warm the yurt via the large log burner and also experience the fire heated outdoor hot tub in the cold weather.
We all had a great time and I am pretty sure we will return again soon.
